About Us

Grand Touring Cars (BMW London and MINI London) History :

Grand Touring Cars is a locally owned BMW and MINI Dealership. Since its start in the 1970’s, Grand Touring Cars has become synonymous with quality vehicles and dedicated staff. While ownership, business name, and locations have changed, the caliber of both vehicles and staff has remained at the pinnacle of excellence.

Grand Touring Cars began by offering a large selection of automobiles from its early location on York St.; it has since grown and in 1991 moved to its current location at 766 Wharncliffe Rd. South. After being purchased in 1992 by a group of local business entrepreneurs, including current President and Retailer Principal, Bill Duffield, as well as Mr. William Duffield Sr., Mr. Steve Mckeown, and Mr. Dennis Plowright, Grand Touring Cars began an impressive transformation, including the addition of the MINI Dealership in Spring 2008, which included changing the business name to BMW London / MINI London.

We’ve been fortunate to have had only minimal turnover with our staff. We have had most of our senior managers with us for over 10 years now. We run our operation like a family, and we believe this is one of our keys to success.

BMW :

The history of the BAVARIAN MOTOR WORKS (BMW) is a history of innovation, dedication and determination. Beginning with radio flyer engines, BMW AG produced a variety of products in its early years, eventually shifting to motorcycle production in 1923 and automobiles in 1929.

These achievements are reflected in the BMW emblem, symbolizing a rotating airplane propeller from BMW’s early years as an aircraft engine manufacturer. Today, the emblem signifies a global company that annually produces hundreds of thousands of engines, motorcycles, and vehicles.

MINI :

Few cars are as instantly recognizable as the Mini. Loved for its diminutive dimensions and cheerful good looks, the British-born car has inspired passionate devotion both in North America and abroad. The brand was briefly discontinued, but was revived in 2002 with help from BMW. Successfully paying homage to the original Mini Cooper of the 1960s, the reincarnated Cooper combines an athletic, BMW-engineered chassis with a space-efficient interior and a generous standard features list. In 1994, the brand was acquired by the BMW Group. The marquee went on hiatus in 2000, but was resurrected (and brought back to North America) in 2002 with the launch of the entry-level, front-drive MINI Cooper hatchback.

The name is now spelt with capital letters to distinguish it from its predecessors. Thoroughly modern in every way, right down to its BMW-engineered suspension, steering and brakes, the MINI is sold alongside its cousins at BMW retailers.

Today, the MINI stands as the most successful British car in history. The brand still inspires adoration from buyers taken with its unique looks, winning performance and the convenience of its extremely compact dimensions.
